About Jane

Jane Tutoki, Author

Jane with her dog, Yuki

I was born outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in a small town called Hermitage. I went to college and law school in Pittsburgh and have only fond memories of that city. Which probably explains why I am still a Pittsburgh Steeler fan, despite having not lived there for decades.

I love writing, but a busy career kept me from ever tackling any serious writing commitments. My husband and I moved 12 times in our careers, which is pretty impressive for a couple with no military connections!

The travel bug hit me early on, and as a consequence I chose to spend a year of high school as a Rotary Club exchange student in Japan. I am forever grateful to my local Rotary Club for sponsoring me for that life-changing adventure. My connection to Japan and its culture continues to this day, and I never considered writing about Eleanor McDougal without one of the major characters being Japanese!

I began my law career as a litigation attorney but soon ended up managing other attorneys in an insurance company. The work agreed with me, and I ended up managing large claims organizations for several global insurance companies. This gave me a chance to work in (ready for it?) Chicago, London, Los Angeles, New York, Zurich, Tampa, etc.

My husband Chris and I retired several years ago. After living most of our lives in large cities, we decided to make a change and bought a ranch in Gainesville, Florida. We enjoy rusticating there with our dog, Yuki and more deer and wild turkeys than we can count.

I hope you enjoy the world of Eleanor McDougal! Her adventures continue in a new book you can look for in Spring 2026.
